A curious kid comes closer

As Ashley sat there reading, she didn’t notice how the positioning of her legs caused the coat to bunch up a little, and show off more than she had wanted. Due to that, a curious boy seemed to approach, his mom having looked away for a little. Ashley didn’t notice the kid until he was right in front of her, kneeling over. She gave him a raised eyebrow.

“Hi, what are you doing?” She asked.

“Did you get a cut down there?” He asked. She laughed nervously.

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“I don’t see a thing down there, only a little cut...” he said. It took her a moment, but she realized what he was talking about. With how her legs were, he could see her-!

She quickly thrust the coat down between her legs as her face turned red. “N-no! I-I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about anything!” She stuttered.

“But-“

“Honey!” A woman said. It was the kid’s mom, and as she walked over, Ashley wondered why she looked familiar. The woman peeked up when she saw Ashley. “Ashley? Oh it’s been so long!” After a moment, Ashley remembered who she was. It was Jackie, her mom’s best friend. They hadn’t seen her for quite a while since she moved here, but here she was.

And Ashley was dressed like this...

“Hi, Jackie!” Ashley said as she tried to keep calm. As long as she didn’t do anything rash, she would remain safe.

“How has college been for you?” She asked as she took a seat. Ashley discreetly inched away a bit, and cleared her throat.

“It’s been pretty good. I met this guy James, and we became best friends immediately.” She said, and as she expected, Jackie had a smile growing on her face. Ashley shook her head. “No, it’s not like that, we-“

“Mommy?” The kid said suddenly. “She has a cut!” He pointed to Ashley, and Jackie gave her a concerned look.

“What?” She asked.

“H-he saw something on my arm that he thought was a cut.” She explained quickly, but the boy shook his head.

“No! I saw it down-“

“Hey, why don’t you let us talk and go over there?” Ashley said as sweetly as she could manage.

“Yeah, go over there, sweetie.” Jackie said. The kid pouted, but made his way over. Jackie returned her attention to Ashley. “Now then, I have to ask, what’s with the coat?” Ashley tensed up. “I mean, sure it’s early, but it’s gonna warm up soon, and it’s not even that cold. It looks big on you too.” Ashley felt a cold sweat.

“I-I just thought it looked cool and I haven’t gotten to wear it yet. It was cool enough, so I decided, you know...” Jackie stared at her for a bit, then shrugged.

“Oh well, not like I can stop you.” She said. Ashley breathed a sigh of relief. This was going good, just as long as nothing crazy happened...
