A couple

You gaze at the computer uncertainly. You guess that the hotel is used to single people booking in for a hedonistic weekend away from their partners. Hence “male” and “female” being the only options. But you’ve booked two of you in.

You try typing in “A couple” to see if it will throw up an error. It doesn’t. Clearly, it’s either an intuitive system, or there’s somebody in reception, fielding the responses. The computer comes back with:

“What sort of couple?”

You throw a panicky glance across to the occupied shower, but sense you’ll get no help from there. You hit the f1 button in the hope that there’s help system for idiots like you. Fortunately, there is. The computer comes back with four more options:

“Please specify:
Heterosexual married / cohabiting / dating
Same sex married / cohabiting / dating
Platonic room mates
Other”
