Matt was a little early to school so he had time to seek out Lucy and do his best to explain himself. He had read her messages and she was not happy with him for ghosting her all night, especially since she thought he was studying at another girl’s house.

Unfortunately, Matt saw Abigail first.

“It’s nice to see you today,” she said too sweetly.

Matt tried to ignore her but she stepped in front of him.

“Just so you know, Lucy messaged me last night wondering what happened with you.”

Matt’s face drained of color.

“I told her we studied and worked so hard that you almost fell asleep at my place. You think I’d spill the beans so soon? Silly boy,” she teased him. “She just thinks you were way tired.”

“Oh, uh, thanks,” he muttered, trying to push past her.

She kissed his cheek as he passed by and Matt kicked himself mentally for enjoying it so much.

“Well, where were you last night, mister?” Abigail greeted him.

“Uh, why?” Matt asked, suspicious.

“Well, last night your girlfriend messaged me and wondered where you were! Apparently, you told her you were studying at my place.”

Matt’s face drained of color and his relationship flashed before his eyes.

“Don’t worry,” she consoled him, “I didn’t say anything. I told her we worked really hard and you practically fell asleep at my house. She just thinks you were way tired.”

“Oh, well, thanks,” he said.

“I’d love to know what you were up to, though, mister. I sure hope you weren’t cheating on her,” Abigail said theatrically.

She skipped off before Matt could respond, giggling to herself.

He pushed past her before she could say anything, not in the mood to deal with her today.

Next stop, Lucy’s locker.

—

Lucy didn’t even turn toward Matt when he greeted her.

“Oh, you can talk to me, now?” she said sarcastically.

“Yeah, baby, I’m really sorry—“

“Sure. I had to message Abigail, of all people, to check on you. How hard is it to answer me? You could drive home but can’t shoot me a message?” Lucy still hasn’t turned toward her boyfriend.

“You’re right, I messed up.”

“Is this how it's going to be? We did it so you don’t want to talk to me?”

Matt tried to embrace her but she stepped away. “Baby, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking right. I should have said something.”

Lucy sighed. “Whatever, I’ve been mad all night and this isn’t helping.”

“Well, how can I fix it?” Matt asked.

“I don’t know.”

“Can I at least have a hug? I missed you.”

Lucy leaned into Matt but kept her arms crossed in front of her to carry her books for class. He kissed the top of her head gently.

“I’ll make it up to you. What about date night tonight? Get something to eat... or something?” Matt suggested.

Lucy pondered for a moment. “All right. That sounds okay.”

She looked up into his eyes, “Don’t do that again, okay? Especially when you’re hanging out with a different girl. I don’t want to be, you now, that girlfriend but it was really sketch.”

If only she knew.

“Of course not. It won’t happen again,” Matt promised.

Lucy let him kiss her but her posture remained rigid.

“I have to get to class. I’ll see you this afternoon,” she said after a minute.

—

Matt felt sick all day. Lucy was justified in being upset with him both for what she thought he did and for what she still didn’t know actually happened. The images of his little scandal competed for his attention all day. The day drifted by, slightly warmer than yesterday, but still overcast and dreary. It was actually a nice day for snuggling indoors and watching movies, but Matt owed Lucy something a little more special.

Lucy was still in a bad mood during their class together so he couldn’t make any progress toward fixing the issue then. He could only promise to pick her up after school.

Matt knew it was worse than he thought when Lucy told him not to come see her at her locker and to message her before he came to pick her up. He knew better than to let her know he was annoyed with that. If she found out the truth there’s no way she would stay with him.

—

Matt got himself home and had a few hours to kill before he went to pick Lucy up. He decided on a simple Italian restaurant that she really liked for dinner and then, if the weather cooperated, a walk around a lake that was close by. If that didn’t work he could always try begging.

As he sat at his desk trying to think of alternative activities, his phone buzzed.

{if Cheat with Abigail=true}

It was Abigail.

“Is Lucy mad?”

He sighed and replied, “Yeah.”

“What did you tell her?”

Abigail could respond to a message on any app faster than Matt thought possible. He settled into his chair, this could take a while.

Matt: “Same thing you did. Tried apologizing.”

Abigail: “Sucks having your girl be mad at you. FYI tho, I’m not mad at you.”

Matt: “So?”

Abigail: “Just thought I’d rub it in. We had real chemistry yesterday.”

Matt scowled. “Why are you doing this?”

Abigail: “Because it’s fun. And it was bomb. The sex, obvi.”

Matt: “Don’t remind me. What’s your goal here anyway?”

Abigail: “Initially just to get back at Lucy for dating you but after yesterday... that isn’t enough. I wanna replace her.”

Matt: “Replace her?”

Abigail: “Yeah, I want to be your gf”

Matt rolled his eyes, although the emotion behind it was fear instead of second hand embarrassment. “Seriously?”

Abigail: “Yup. And I am persistent.”

Matt: “Doesn’t it sort of ruin it if you tell me?”

Abigail: “No. I’m going to have you regardless.”

Matt allowed himself a minute to think about the possibility. Abigail seemed to know everyone even their giant high school. He figured she was a lock for all the popularity contests. That wasn’t that important but it would be fun to date the prom queen... Her house was incredible, too. Being in with a family that wealthy wouldn’t be a bad thing.

He shook off the fantasy. “If you say so.”

Abigail: “I do. So try not to screw Lucy too much because you’re actually mine even if you don’t know it yet.”

He didn’t have a chance to reply before she messaged again.

“Anyway, I have to run. Talk to you later, handsome.”

{endif}

{if Cheat with Emily=true}

It was Emily.

“Hey, handsome.”

He considered ignoring her but he couldn’t. “Hey.” he sent. He remembered she thinks they’re practically dating so he quickly sent: “sexy.”

Emily: “I missed you today. I thought you’d need a ride home... or back to my place.”

Matt: “Sorry, I have a lot to do tonight.”

Emily: “You could do me.”

Matt: “So tempting!”

Emily: “How can I tempt you more?”

He didn’t have a chance to reply before a picture popped up. Emily was smiling into the selfie camera, her giant tits barely covered by a sweater. She was in the backseat of a car.

“I hung out with some coworkers today and took this for you.”

She looked sexy as hell.

Matt: “Wow! That is tempting!”

Emily: “So come over!”

Matt: “I’m really busy tonight :( but soon?”

Emily: “All right, but I’ll be really sad.”

Matt stopped for a second. Why was he encouraging this? He literally hate a date in a few hours with his actual girlfriend. Why was he stringing Emily along?

Well, because the sex was amazing. Having a beautiful woman fawning over him felt good. She was mature and established yet still wanted him to pound her into next week. Shit, it was hard to argue with all that.

Matt: “I’m sad, too. I’ll make it up to you.”

Emily: “I have some ideas. But I’ll let you go for now. Talk soon?”

Matt: “Talk soon, sexy.”

—

Well, that complicates things.

Matt groaned and tossed his phone on the desk. If he couldn’t smooth things over with Lucy at least he had options. He didn’t want to lose her, though. He tapped his fingers on the desk and let his mind go blank. He showered and got dressed for the date and found a message from Lucy when he checked his phone again.

“What should I wear”

“Casual, stuff you can walk and be warm in.” He replied.

She just messaged a thumbs up. He winced. He would need to be on his A-game to solve this.

“Be there in a few, baby,” he messaged her, already walking to his car. He’d grab flowers on the way, he decided. The sun had come out and started to warm the temperature, at least a little bit. With a good coat it was a nice day to be outside.

He checked his reflection in the rear view mirror and started the car.

“Showtime,” he said to himself.
