Dad came home later. My father and I didn't have a very close relationship since mom passed away.When she died he took refuge in his work when I needed him. And later despite our tries we failed to reconnect. I still loved and respected him (he was my father after all) but we had just draft away. He came home late that and during the dinner announced that he was going to Nevada for a interdepartamental meeting. One would think that nowadays those tthings were done by Skype, but his boss was adamant in his old ways. Sally seemed resignated and I just nodded.
"Why don't you do something" He said "I know Sally is not your mother, but you two could use some bonding".
Sally nodded humbly and smailed lovingly to my dad.
"Of course, honey. Your son is a young gentleman and everything will be ok in my hands." She said planting a kiss on his check.
Dad got up early and ate his breakfast in the kitchen. When I got up I found him with the luggage already prepared and ready to go. We shared an akward hug and he left.
"Where is Sally" I asked.
"She is still in bed. She got up with a headache and I prefered not to disturb her" he said. I wished him a nice trip and good luck and went back to my room but while i was walking in front of their room i noticed something..
