A beautiful, golden ring

Alex gasped loudly, his already big eyes seeming even bigger as he looked down at the pretty, shining ring. It was sculptured all over with shapes and symbols. On the upper side it had a glass or crystal mosaique depicting butterfly wings in a light-pink shade with black lines looking like vines or some kind of tentacles on top of them. Troubled boy looked left and right to check if anybody is searching for it and then looked at it again. He bit his lip, his head working on double time. If nobody was looking...then he can take it, right? He can bring it to the reception later, after all, and if something happened to it on the floor...someone could step on it or kick it, why risk such a thing?

D'Lavey pocketed the jewel, his walk suddenly getting faster and faster as he closed on the dorm wing, his room happily on the lowest level. He looked on the intercom next to it, before he read the note left on the machine. "Mr. D'Lavey, please scan your ID to enter the dorm, magnetic key will be given when you meet Headmaster Aurelian"

He read it and raised his eyebrow, just doing it as he saw no reason in arguing, well, just another weird thing this school does. He put his hands in the pocket, and without noticing it at all, his newly found trinket slipped onto his ring finger. He gasped a little as he felt a surge of warmth spread over him, as he set the bag and the suitcase down, jumping onto the bed, sighing loudly. Then, he heard a giggle.
