A Strange Phone Call

You check the number on your caller ID, and the name just reads as 'out of area'. There is no calling number, just those three words. Your curiosity is piqued, so you answer anyway.

When you pick up the line, the voice on the other side couldn't belong to anyone but Charles.

"Hey, John, buddy. Good to see you're still able to answer your phone. hehe. Well, by now I'm sure you've noticed some deviations from what we discussed. As it turns out, when we added the rules in to your world, things didn't... they didn't. . . Shit got bad. Rather than solving problems, the fact that sex was now in the open just added more issues. It was a privilege humans weren't ready for. Things ended real bad for you when we ran that first simulation. Your sisters can fill you in on some of the details, and you can make assumptions from there. So, the Doc went back in and edited a few more things. He tweaked quite a few quality of life issues, and basically rebuilt the system from the ground up to create that utopia you were imagining. I think he also left a few gifts we'll let you figure out on your own time. I wouldn't go cheating on anyone in the near future, but with what you got going for you right now I don't see an issue with that." the line goes silent for a couple seconds

"Charles?"

"Yeah. I'm here. I just wanted to add on a personal note.. I was just joking around with you yesterday. I didn't really mean some of those jabs at you.. and... remember to take your pills. They help." After that cryptic line Charles hangs up.

You search your cabinets for a bit and discover a prescription bottle with your name on the side. Inside the bottle are clear red pills that remind you of an old movie from the nineties you can't remember the name of. The instructions on the side of the bottle say to take two daily. You scratch the itch at the back of your neck.
