A Request to Dinner

After Mr. Watts left her room, Kim was left stunned. She had never thought that when she had signed that contract, that it meant truly signing away her freedom. She had hoped that the Watts family wasn't like the families she had heard about, the ones who would use their servants to the extent that the law allowed. But it turns out they were.

She still couldn't wrap her mind around her circumstances. If the letter truly did hold the rules of her servitude, then that meant at least three years of service in which she would be naked for the majority of the time. She shuddered just thinking about how embarrassing it would be, but unfortunately, it seemed to be her reality.

Just then, Kimberly heard a knocking at her door. Before she could think to answer it, she heard a voice from the other side, one she had never heard before. "The masters of the house have requested that you join them for dinner."

Kim could only assume it was the family's butler or some other servant. She heard their footsteps as they walked away from the door. She wanted to do anything but face the family right now, but she knew that if she wanted her debt paid then she best not rock the boat.
