She kissed me softly, thoughtfully. “I’m going to go,” she said.

“I’ll think about it.”

“That’s all I can ask.”

I stood up and walked her to my door.

“Josie?”

“Yeah?”

“I know you were a little distant last night, but I still really enjoyed spending time with you.”

She bit her lip. Her eyes misted up, but she held my stare. “I did too.”
