A Glowing Alien Artifact

While there were plenty of other things in the room: women in cages, giant laser looking things, and cutting-edge surgical devices, my eyes were drawn to a glowing relic to my right. Come. My mind felt called to make my way over to the chamber that housed it. I peered in through the large glass windows as I gawked at the unearthly glow.

I looked around to see if I was being watched. All clear. Come. I slipped inside and walked up to the floating, glowing orb. How does it do that? Unknown figures wound along the outside of the relic as light gleamed through. The shifting light moved as if it lived and the shell contained an untold power.

Come. I reached out my hands and heard a frantic shout from outside the room. I turned to see a grey haired scientist with a crazed face. I should probably get out of here, but my eyes are drawn back to my hands as I place them on the object.

Colors fill my visions, swirling through my brain until I see only white. White forever. Then...

I blink. I'm sitting on my ass, which hurts, and the artifact has fallen to the ground, devoid of light. Before I can get up, I feel a needle go into my neck and a scientist looking down at me with a scowl. My vision goes black and my mind drifts.
