A Cold Shower

I didn't take Mars up on her offer. We may have crossed a line, but it was important to maintain some decorum in our relationship. Instead I did the walk of shame out of her apartment building. I headed home to a quick, cold shower, then headed for work.

Just after clocking in I heard a voice behind me.

"Aren't you going to wish me a Happy Birthday?" she asked.

I turned to see Mary George. With long blonde hair, brown eyes, and a sweet innocent face, you had to believe the Commodores had written that song just for her. She was stacked and that's a fact.

"Happy Birthday, Mary," I said. "How old are you now?"

She scrunched her pretty face at me. Truth be told, I was probably the only guy in a 10 mile radius who didn't have her birthday circled and highlighted on my calendar.

"Eighteen," she said, puffing out her chest. She then pulled a card from her pocket. "My party is this weekend," she said, looking down almost shy. "I know the rules, but you are invited, if you want to come," she said, handing me the invitation.

I accepted it so I wouldn't hurt her feelings and told her I'd try. She smiled and headed off to the perfume department where she worked. She and I had been hired at the same time, gone through orientation together. She'd been puffing out her chest at me every day since. But, a man can find enough trouble on his own without inviting THAT kind of trouble.

"What was that?" Mars asked, surprising me. I turned to see her disapproving face.

"She tried sitting in my lap while I was standing up," I replied.

She frowned at me again.

"I don't need you to make the obvious more obvious," I added.

"You broke the rules with me, don't want to see you sliding down that slippery slope."

I gave her the look, again.

"Unless of course you are sliding a slippery bar of soap down the slope of my hips and ass," she added, with a smile.

"You are relentless Mars," I said walking away and shaking my head.
