Barry and Samantha hung out at the park until late in the day. When the picnic was over, they decided to take a long walk home. On their way, they walked past another church, where people were walking inside for the evening mass.
"Hey Sam, feel like doing a celebrity meet and greet?" Barry asked her.
"What do you mean?" Samantha asked.
"You'll see..." Barry grinned.
Meanwhile, the congregation had gathered, and mass was underway.
"The lord be with you," said the priest.
"And also with you," said the congregation.
"Oh believe me, he is with you," they heard from out of nowhere. Suddenly there was a bright light, and when it cleared, Barry and Samantha were stood at the front of the church.
"Hello everyone, God here. Just popping in," Barry said. The crowd was gobsmacked.
"L..Lord..this is an honour!" the priest stammered. "To what do we owe this immense pleasure?"
"Oh you know, the wife and I just wanted to check up on things," Barry replied.
"That's not God!" shouted a voice from the crowd, which belonged to none other than Mrs Patsy Delaware, the town's gossip. "That's Barry and Samantha Jones! My son went to school with their daughter Laura!"
"So you doubt me?" Barry asked. Suddenly the crowd gasped, as they saw that Mrs Delaware was floating in the air.
"Ahh! Someone get me down from here!" Mrs Delaware shouted.
"Do you accept me as God? Barry asked.
"Yes! Just please get me down from here!" Mrs Delaware begged. Instantly, she was sat back in her seat.
"Now, does anyone else doubt me?" Barry asked.
"No lord," the priest said. "It's just a little overwhelming, meeting God, particularly the revelation that he is one of our neighbours."
"I understand, but now, I have an announcement to make," Barry said. "All of your sins are forgiven! Even that one you're thinking of, Mr Cooper!" Mr Cooper was sat in the crowd, and looked embarassed.
"There we go, now, we'll be off, but first, let me say this," Barry said. "You are all forbidden from discussing what's gone on here with anyone else. By all means talk to each-other about it, but if you tell ANYONE else about this, you will be sent straight to hell. Bye bye!"
