“We will see about that. Now let’s move, there is still a base of Republic soldiers after us,” Wes said as he now took the lead.

A Battalion of Interference

Chapter 43 by zewesman zewesman

“We’re almost at the hanger bay, it should be just around this corner!” Alema told her Sith compatriot as he followed behind her while carrying their prize for their shared master. She quickly, however, stopped and moved back around the corner and stuck her hand out to stop Wes from rounding the corner.

“What’s wrong?” asked Wes. “Is there a whole battalion of soldiers waiting for us?” asked Wes, half joking, half serious.

“Yes,” replied Alema calmly.

“Of course there is,” sighed Wes as he set their unconscious package down on the ground. He took his own look around the corner to verify what Alema had told him. Sure enough, there were a large number of soldiers in the hangar, guarding the only thing between Wes and his escape and completion of this mission. However, Wes did notice that there were a lot of soldiers in the hangar bay. Far too many to be able to efficiently fight one close combat opponent let alone two. He figured that would be the only way to eliminate them all and allow the group to escape.

“I know that look, you have a plan,” Alema told Wes. “Well, out with it!”

“Yes, I do have a plan. You’re right that there’s basically a battalion of soldiers there. And that’s their weak point. There’s too many of them to be able to effectively shoot us with their blasters if we get in close. There’s a high chance of friendly fire which, thanks to the poorly trained Republic troops, will cause many of them to panic and flee. We wipe up what’s left of their defense and then mozy on over to our ship and get the hell out of here,” Wes told his companion.

“That’s a solid plan. Let’s do it,” Alema said as she grabbed her two lightsabers and ignited them, the red and green lights flickered off her figure.

“You’re really enjoying two blades, aren’t you?” asked Wes.

"Oh yes, it's quite exhilarating! Now, to show you them in action!" a giddy Alema told her companion.

“I really do. I might have to look into getting a second one,” Wes said as he ignited his own blade. “Now, shall we slaughter this Republic scum?” Wes asked as he prepared to go around the corner.

“Yes, let us show them the power of the Sith Empire,” replied Alema as she rounded the corner in front of Wes. Wes quickly followed behind her as the two started their assault against the Republic soldiers that stood between them and their only way off the station.

“There they are! Open fire!” yelled the Commander in charge of the station’s Republic troopers. A flurry of blaster bolts came from two different sides, angled so they would not hit the other side but would hit the two Sith, coming towards Alema and Wes. The two Sith quickly began their own assault against the soldiers who stood in their way.

Alema’s blade swung all around her, a blur of red and green knocked away the blue bolts of the Republic soldiers as they were sent back to the senders. The screams of pain as multiple soldiers were killed by their own reflected bolts filled the room.

“It’s not working!” yelled one frightened soldier.

“We’re killing ourselves!” cried another one.

“Cut the chatter!” yelled the commander. “Hold the line and keep firing!” he ordered as the men buckled down and redoubled their efforts to bring the two Sith down.

“See?” Wes yelled to Alema. “They’re already starting to fracture!” Wes said with a sadistic smile as he sent another wave of Force Lightning into the crowd of soldiers on his side. The smell of burnt flesh and screams of the soldiers brought him a twisted feeling of happiness that only a Sith could truly get. While one hand blocked the incoming blaster fire, the other kept unleashing torrents of Sith lightning at his opponents.

“We gotta retreat!” yelled a soldier.

“The lightning is too powerful!” decided another soldier.

“Stay firm! We’re wearing them out!” the commander told his troopers. This time, however, there was less confidence in his voice, less authority. He was clearly not believing in what he was saying now, but still said it.

“Yes! They are falling like the weak little flies they are!” Alema said as her blades sliced threw three soldiers with each blade as she made her way to their first barricade. Most fell back to another barricade, but some stayed behind to buy time for the others and now those brave souls found themselves cut in half as Alema effortlessly killed them and continued her assault on her side. The soldiers’ lines started to break as more and more fled from the closer barricades and went to the ones furthest in the back to give themselves the most time. Alema, however, kept moving forward, her blades dancing around her body, reflecting any and all blaster bolts that came near her back to the soldiers. Suddenly, blaster bolts from the other side of the room began to hit the soldiers on Alema’s side. A quick glance over by Alema told her the answer she needed.

Wes had Force Jumped from his current position of where the soldiers were prepared for him to come from to him facing them from the side, with his back open to attack from the soldiers on Alema’s side. The commander had thought the two Sith would not put their back to their enemy, thus they would never have to worry about friendly fire. Wes’ actions, however, proved that assumption was wrong as he now assaulted them from the side, where they had no cover.

“FRIENDLY FIRE! FRIENDLY FIRE!” various panicked soldiers began to yell on Alema’s side as blaster bolts tore through them since that side had no cover. The soldiers on Alema’s side finally broke formation and began to flee their positions to find places to hide that had cover from every side. Alema used this opportunity to strike down multiple enemies at once thanks to a devistating combination of using Throw Saber at one group of enemies with Force Jumping to another group and slicing them in close quarters. The broken formations allowed the female Sith to kill the soldiers at a far faster pace then she had before with them open for her to use her sabers on them in close quarters with no worries of being blasted from the flank.

“KEEP FORMATION!” shouted the commander as he stayed in his position with the few soldiers that stayed by his side. “HOLD THE FUCKING LI-” was all he could get out before Alema’s blade chopped his head clean off. It rolled along the ground towards where Wes was. Once he saw it, he kicked it towards the soldiers on his side, who also began to break formation to run and hide.

“Look at them scurry and hide from their superiors!” Wes said as he brought down another support beam with the Force onto nearby soldiers. Wes continued his way around to clean up the remaining soldiers, his Force Lightning and saber doing a lot of work to meet that goal. Soon, the two had finished off what remained of the soldiers.

“Looks like we got them all,” decided Alema as she stabbed one last soldier who barely clung to life.

“I think you are right,” Wes said as he used the Force to move some objects out of the way of the hangar bay ship exit. “Let’s grab the girl and get the fuck out of here,” he said as he turned and headed back to the hallway where the unconscious Jedi was last left.

“Good idea,” Alema said as she followed Wes. The two were happy to see the Jedi was still lying unconscious on the floor.

“For a minute there, I had a feeling that she would have woken up and ran away,” Wes said.

“What do you think this is, a video game?” asked Alema rhetorically.

“Man, if only life was that easy,” Wes said as he picked up the Jedi and moved towards their ship. The two quickly got on board and started the pre-flight checks.

“Ok, everything is green, let’s get out of this ancient shithole,” Alema said as the ship exited the ruins of the Star Forge only to be greeted with the Republic ships opening fire as fighters swarmed towards them.

“This is bad. Very bad,” Alema commented as Wes began to perform evasive maneuvers.

“All we gotta do is get to the hyperspace lane,” Wes said as he concentrated on firing. “So make yourself useful and get on those fucking guns!” Wes yelled at Alema.

“Hey! Don’t get pissy at me!” Alema yelled back as she made her way to the guns. Once on the turret she opened fire on the incoming fighters. Thanks to the Force, she was able to easily hit her targets as they had trouble compensating for the flying of Wes.

“Ok, prepare for a rough ride ahead,” Wes said as they broke through the first wave of fighters. “We’re about to take on the fleet,” Wes said as they entered the firing range of the anti-ship frigates. It was at this moment a fleet of Sith warships dropped out of hyperspace and opened fire on the Republic fleet. Thanks to their formation, which was to maximize the chances of taking out the ship fleeing the Star Forge and not an invasion fleet. The Republic ships quickly broke their attack off of Wes and Alema’s ship and began to reform their fleet to fight off the Sith armada that was tearing through their forces.

“Is that the mistress?!” asked a hopeful Alema.

“I don’t think so,” Wes said as he continued along his path towards the hyperspace entrance.

“Either way, let’s get out of here. I don’t think it’d be good for us to be caught by them either,” Wes told his companion.
