18 Years Later/Monsters

"Jodie, time to get up! Jodie Holmes woke up with her arms tightly wound around her favorite stuffed animal, Bunnygruff. "Jodie, you up?" Came a woman's voice from the other side of the door of her bedroom which is decorated as a typical little girls room.

"Yes Ma'am" Jodie answered back politely. "Thank you. Now shower and get dressed, ok? Came the voice. As Jodie heard the footsteps fade going downstairs, she grabbed a pair of jeans and a soft pink T-shirt with three blue silhouettes of ballerinas on it from her closet.

She enters the bathroom across the hall unzipping her pajama top and pushing the legs down to step out of them. The coolness of the linoleum floor quickly registered and sent shivers through her small body as her bare feet touched the floor.

Safety covers were over the handles, but one. Jodie twisted that handle and a torrent of water came down on her. As she braced for the impact the sound of the water muffled. Opening her eyes, Jodie could see single water drops floating towards her. The amazing moment was cut short as Jodie turned to see a billowing mass of black smoke with red eyes reach out for her. Stinging hot water crashed on her to make her scream in terror and pain as the monster disappeared.

(Knock knock) "Jodie, are you ok?" The woman called out.

"Yes Mom, I'm fine." Jodie responded hesitantly.
