“Wet”

“That’s cos it’s raining dummy” Lucy laughs as she points out the obvious to him, “and unless you want your carpet to be as wet as us, maybe you could help us out somehow.”

“Oh yes, sorry girls, sorry” he again stammers, and you can just tell he is imagining all sorts of ways he would like to help you out, but none you reckon he has the nerve to suggest. “How about a couple of towels” he goes on after a pause, and before you can answer he is heading along the hallway and up the narrow stairs that lead from it.

“You can use my bathroom if you like, or I can bring you a couple of towels” he shouts from a few feet above you as you and Lucy watch him ascend.

You glance at Lucy, sure she is having very similar thoughts to you about Robert, in the way he is now acting and the thoughts that you are sure are going through his mind right now.
