[Noah] Noah invites Kate in.

This was a bad look, Noah thought. If Emily came back inside and found Kate with him in the dark it would look even worse than what she had seen already, even if they were on opposite sides of the room. Something told him that Emily wouldn't be coming back anytime soon, though. He and Kate needed to talk anyway. "Yeah, come in," he said, again trying to sound nonchalant. He had no clue if it was working.

She stepped inside and closed the door behind her. There was enough moonlight coming in through the window that they could see each other just fine even with the lights off, so she didn't bother hitting the switch. "How are you?" she asked.

"I'm fine."

Kate paused, not believing it for a second. Noah didn't expect her to. Who would be doing just fine after their girlfriend bitched them out in front of everybody? He tried not to scowl. "I'm sorry about what happened," Kate said.

"It's all good. Not your fault." He sat up. That exposed the fact that he was shirtless, and he thought he saw her look down at his chest for a second. He took the opportunity to look her up and down too. She was a slim girl, not as athletic as Emily or as busty as Rachel, but he liked the low, loose neckline of her dress.

"I still feel bad."

Maybe you should. He didn't say it out loud. It really wasn't her fault, but he was looking for anyway it was someone's fault except his. Emily's. Or nobody's. Whatever. "Yeah. I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have gone along with it, should've known it would rope you into trouble."

Kate hesitated. She looked like she wasn't sure what to do next, whether to stay a little longer or beat a hasty retreat.
