"Shit."

The bed has more or less folded over itself. It looks like you might be able to salvage the bottom half, but the top half is completely ruined. The frame is broken, the baseboard has snapped in half and the matress has been impaled by the frame in a couple places. You look over at Celina. It's the middle of the night, she's injured, and she's got nowhere to go. You have to make a bed for her.

Without a word, you get to work. Celina watches you from the floor as you take off the broken parts, dragging the torn matress from the room and shoving it into the living room, taking the broken wooden pieces from the frame and tossing them onto your couch, dragging half of the baseboard out from the wreck and stowing it in the storage room. When you start walking back to your room, you see Celina start coming out, dragging the other half of the baseboard behind her. You go to help her out, going to the back of the baseboard and lifting it. You direct her into the storage room and you both lean it against a wall. You smile and thank her.

"We'll help eachother!" she says, smiling.

You realise that she's finally becoming trusting of you. You get a warm feeling in your stomach, but then when she starts limping back to the bedroom you just start feeling sorry for her again.

You follow her back to the bedroom, and take the last broken pieces of the bed off, tossing them on the floor. In the end, your bed just ends up looking exactly the same as it did before you added the bunk part of it earlier today. A whole lot of good that was.

Celina looks over at you. You give her a wave, tell her that it's all hers. She lies down, being careful with her leg, and tucks herself in. She stares at you as you stand there, and you realise you should probably let her sleep. You walk to the door, say goodnight, and flick off the lightswitch.
