Chapter 22 by Narune Narune

What should I say?

"Like Father, Like Son."

I said the words quietly, barely loud enough to hear, but the effect was instant.

May lunged at her son, her eyes vicious and bloodthirsty. He jumped, surprised, and batted away her probing arms. He didn't see the moment I stepped forwards, and he didn't see the moment I drove the dagger through his spine. He fell with hardly a cry, and I gave May the only mercy I could.

And then I did the same for Anna.

I sat with Thag as he started to laugh. "Damn, that was cool."

I took his hand in mine, a small comfort for a similar soul. "Clearly you deserved to be called 'demon king' more. In the end, I just couldn't let you loose into the world."

He started laughing again, and I sat with him until he died. He didn't say another world, he passed in the best possible way; silent and quickly forgotten, never to scourge the land with his fairy tale ****.

And I followed suit.

I never harmed another person. I lived in the mountains alone, and died without a single soul to mourn me.

It was, I figured, the least I could do.
