Chapter 23 by jw_wjw

How do her friends take this?

"Jenny, no"

one of the texts said.

"This is really stupid," Sarah chimed in.

"Yeah," Kim said - the once-cynical friend reconciled to the group - "I know you had it in you for the one year, but we're grown-ups now. Doing this at all - let alone for the rest of your life - will just ruin your life and sink your career."

"Jenny," Brian began, "I'm really sorry I said anything. I was just joking."

"yeah," Jim added, "mr wilkins isnt gonna like this"

"Well, fuck Mr. Wilkins," Jenny texted back in her afterglow, "if he doesn't like it I can just move to Philly or NYC."

"And you think they like it in the street or office?" Luke remained skeptical.

"Well, a bet's a bet," Jenny tried justifying herself.

"No it isn't," Brian countered, "there is no bet. If you want an excuse to get naked just go to a nudist resort."

But such a thing didn't have the same appeal to Jenny. Last time, she was *free* to be naked, and no one could judge her, because she had lost a rather silly bet. Plus, that was all in public and not cooped up in some resort. If she went to a resort she would be responsible for her nudity and thus judged as some sort of nudist freak ... which she wasn't, obviously.

"Jenny, you're 25," Lisa said her piece, "you don't know what you want to do for the rest of your life. You still have decades of life to live, and this stupidity shouldn't bog you down."

"Whatever," Jenny texted back dismissively as she thought about upcoming Election Night.

What headspace is Jenny in come Election Night?
