“The extra cookies are stacked up in my garage,” says Claire. “It’s not far-–I can run back and bring them over.”

“Great,” you say. Turning towards Lin, you suggest, “You can wait inside for her to get back.”

She gives Claire a hesitant look before stepping into your apartment. Lin waves as Claire heads to the elevator of your apartment building.

You close the door and turn back towards Lin. “Can I offer you something to drink?”
