Star Trek: Deep Space 69s.

It had been a year or so since the Federation had taken control of the former Cardassian space station known as Deep Space 9, and commander Benjamin Sisko had found the wormhole leading to the gamma quadrant. Thing had settled into a quiet routine onboard... Sisko struggled daily to combine his role as commander of the station with the one of Emissary that the Bajorans had bestowed upon him. Major Kira Nerys, his Bajoran first officer attempted to put the skills she had learned while in the resistance to good use. Chief Miles O'Brien did his best to integrate the Federation, Bajoran and Cardassian technologies. Lt Jadzia Dax split her time between the operations room and her duties as science officer. And Doctor Julian Bashir tried to contain his boyish enthusiasm and adjust to life 'on the frontier' as he put it.

Major kira stood in the hallway in one of the huge upper pylons await the incoming starship. The ceiling lights hummed quietly. Slowly, through the view ports in the inner and outer airlock doors she watched the sleek white side of the ship slid to a halt. Then the magnetic tractors gently aligned the hatches with an almost inaudible clunk. Lastly the thick airlock doors opened.

For a few seconds there was nothing. Kira straightened her uniform. Then came the sounds of activity, and finally a woman in the red shouldered uniform of an officer strode in through the open door followed by several crewmen.

"Welcome to Deep Space Nine, Captain...?" Kira enquired.

"...Janeway! Katheryn Janeway of the USS Voyager!"
