One afternoon you see your mom - 'Jackie' - flirting with a handsome young man by the pool. He gets her a drink from the bar and they sit by the water, laughing and smiling. You watch the flirty way she touches his arm and feel a jealous rage come over you. For a moment you forget about your mother and see only your new wife chatting up another man.

You stand up from your lounge chair and start to march over to them, ready to punch the guy and scream at your wife. Just as you start to stalk over to them, you feel a light touch on your hand. You look down to see your mother. She gives you a sad look as she gently pulls you back down into your chair. You resist for a second but then see her eyes beginning to tear. Instantly you feel like jackass as you remember exactly what has happened and who each of these women are. You sit down and whisper to her "I'm sorry, Jackie. I...I just forgot for a second. I couldn't help it..."

She sniffles. "It's okay, Gerry, really. I understand. It's hard for both of us."

You put your arm around her and try to comfort her. "Shh, it will be alright darling, you'll see," you say. But your words sound hollow in your ears. How can this be okay? What will you do when you get back home?

You take her back to the room, thinking that treating her like your wife might reassure her. But Jackie softly rebuffs your advances. "Just hold me, Gerry," she asks.

So you take her in your arms and hold her as she cries. Some time passes and you think she may have dozed off - so you relax and let yourself go to sleep as well.

You awaken a few hours later to feel her stirring in your arms. She opens her eyes and lifts her head to meet your gaze. You are worried for a moment, but then she gives you a warm smile. "Thanks honey. I needed that. Sometimes a good cry helps, especially when there's nothing else you can do."

You nod and return her smile, then lower your head to give her a kiss. You still feel somewhat uncomfortable, knowing that your kissing your mother's lips. But you close and eyes and pretend that it's Jackie in body as well as spirit, and you soon push past your reluctance. Your kissing becomes more and more passionate as your hands roam over each other's bodies. You undress each other, continuing to kiss and fondle, and you quickly move past foreplay.
