you HAVE to discuss what happened

“What was that?” you ask.
“Hm?” Queenie said, batting her lashes.
“The smell. What was that?”
“What do you mean?”
“You were in my head, Queenie,” She blinks at you with a concerned look. “Don’t act like you don’t know.” Queenie’s gaze is unshaken. “You didn’t know.”
“I didn’t… I swear…” she whimpers, antennae drooping a bit.

Queenie shrugged, looking a bit forlorn. “I couldn’t say. I haven’t really met anyone outside the store before.” She sounds genuine, and you have to pause to take a sniff and don’t smell anything out of place. Maybe it was something in the food, or the air, or her environment, but something was interfering with her earlier. That or she’s an incredible liar, and she seems more confident than deceptive.

You stroke her hair a bit, making her coo and curl up against you weakly. It’s a vulnerability that you haven’t seen in her before, and it’s furthered when you hear her sniffling against your chest. “Please… forgive me,” she whimpers. “ I didn‘t want to hurt you or change you…”

You shush her softly, wrapping your arms around her. “I know,” you assure her. “Calm down. I understand.” You have to sympathize, this being her first real interaction with a person who wasn’t educated on everything about her genetic code, and she nearly enslaves you because she thinks you like it.
