so 'normal' it's strange

Sarah and Tom stared at the screen in confusion, then looked at each other. "What the hell is this?" Tom said, expressing both their reactions. He clicked through multiple videos but there were all similar. They seemed to be simple recordings of Sarah in her bedroom - reading, finishing schoolwork, occasionally enjoying music and even dancing around, and sleeping. Nothing particularly exciting or unusual - which is what seemed so strange. Sometimes there was another person in the video; in the videos they scanned they noted at least three other girls who visited, apparently some of Sarah's friends. They paused at a few points to listen to audio, but that seemed rather boring as well.

Tom quickly opened the other files one by one, jumping through them to see if anything stood out. They found a couple where it appeared that Sarah was probably masturbating, but she was under the bed sheet so nothing was really visible to the camera.

"Wait, slow down," Sarah said as he scanned one video at high speed. "Go back a few minutes - it looked like I'm crying there. What can we hear?"

Tom followed her directions, jumping back and hitting play. Sarah was talking to someone on her phone with tears streaming down her face. "No, Mom, I won't come home ... you don't understand! He's not 'a creep'! .... He loves me!...." She began sobbing. "No, please .... don't say that. 'Dead to you'! You can't mean that!" she almost screamed. The line must have gone dead as she dropped the phone from her ear and just sat holding it, crying inconsolably. After several minutes of watching Sarah said "That's enough." She had a catch in her throat, clearly emotional after having watched 'herself' break down. "I... I don't know exactly what happened, but I guess my parents cut me off? They must have really disapproved of us."

Tom put his arms around her and pulled her close. "Maybe this is TOO strange. We can make another wish if you want," Tom offered.

Sarah shook her head. "No...I am VERY curious now about what our life is like here. I think we should take some time to explore and see what we can learn."
