head in the game

Several hours later the game was well underway and your team was down by three. You shook off two defenders and ran to the top of the key and shot for it, you missed the shot but took a foul in the process from a very large opposing team's member.

The ref allowed you to take a free throw shot. You took your shot and just like every shot you took tonight you missed. The coach finally had enough and pulled you out of the game letting you warm the bench. You covered your face with the cool towel and wanted nothing more than to disappear when you felt a hand on your back. "You're not doing so hot tonight." [No anyone but him.] Tom sat next to you. Your heart skipped a beat when you saw him sporting a jersey with your number on it.

"Yeah I just can't get it together."

"Rough day?"

"If you only knew." you scoffed returning to under your towel.

"Oh I know something about a rough day. This guy I liked ran out on me last night and hasn't spoken to me since. It's been pretty rough."

"If he ran out on you why give him the time of day then?"

"Because he's having a bad day and I still want to cheer him up." You felt his shoulder bump into yours playfully. [God why is he so perfect?]

"Maybe he ran away for a reason." you tried to sound cold and not scared like you were.

"I'm sure he has a reason. He's a goofball but not a nut." you could see his hand from under your towel and how close it was to yours. You wanted to reach out and take his hand so much it hurt. You knew if you did you would never want to let it go.

"Maybe he is crazy." You just had to get through dinner sunday and you wouldn't have to deal with tom anymore. That of course is what you wanted after all. Right?

"If he is I'm crazy too then. Cause wherever he goes I'll be with him." tom takes your hand in his. In every way it felt like home.

"If he said he was sorry and told you what was going on and even though it was completely stupid and crazy. What would you say to him?" you finally dared to look into his eyes, his beautiful eyes that seemed to welcome you back without hesitation.

"Well I would tell him if it upset him this much it probably wasn't stupid or crazy." His thumb started to trace the back of yours ever so gently. "I would of course no doubt forgive him. That's what you do when you-"

"What the hell are you doing down here? Get your ass back in the stands!" the coach shouted when he finally turned around and noticed tom.

"Looks like I gotta go. Feel better cutie." he climbed back up into the bleachers living you back on the bench and your hand empty. You couldn't help but stare at him as he climbed back up into the stands.

After a full quarter's rest the coach finally calls you back in. The score was now tied and your alternate had twisted his ankle so the coach had **** but to let you play. The game was still tough but you felt more focused then before. Your team ends up winning by two points. After the initial celebration dies down you went into the crowd and found tom standing with your family.

Kyle ran up to you jumping into your arms. "Dude you won!" he yelled excitedly.

"We sure did dude!" you cheered.

"You did great sweetie." your mom hugged you both.

"Good job son." your dad gave you a pat on the back.

Your sister of course didn't show up. Not that you were upset by that. Tom smiled at you lovingly. "I knew you could do it cutie."

You wanted to tell him everything you had been feeling and why you ran away and why you wouldn't be back but all you could muster was "Thank you." Your mother occupied his time talking about the dinner so you didn't have to talk to him. You werent really listening you were too busy staring at tom's handsome face and sexy arms to pay attention to anything.
