Who the Hell

Your sister

Of course it was your little sister. You remembered that she told you to call her after you got settled in. The two of you were always close, especially after your parents walked out. She really looked up to you.

“Hey Amber, sorry I forgot to call earlier. I’ve been busy settling in.” You lying dick.

She laughed, and you couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t even a week since you two were separated and you already missed her. “That’s fine, I just wanted to make sure nobody killed you.”

“Nope, I got shot but you know, it missed everything important.” You **** out a laugh while you brushed your hand against your ribs.

It felt kind of good to have told her the truth even if it was presented as a joke. Let’s just say that there was more than one reason you left your hometown, and hadn’t worked in months. Your focus turned back to the conversation.

“Is your new house nice? Is it big?” She held a joyful tone that faded on her next question, “Are you lonely?”

“The house is really nice, it’s huge too. I have no idea how I’m going to fill it with stuff. I’ll give grandma a call, see how I can get started hoarding.” You joked hoping to ignore the last question.

“You missed one…”

“I miss you.” Both of you were quiet and if you could see her face you’re sure that she’d be pouting.

“Then I’ll come visit!”

“Don’t you have school?” your breathing sped up, your house wasn’t exactly ready for visitors.

“I can take some time off. Don’t worry about it, it’s senior year everyone skips a few days.”

You tried to think of an excuse but realized the only thing she wouldn’t worm her way out of was if you just flat out said no. Could you really do that to your precious little sister? It would make her so sad.

“Amber listen…”
