Chapter 3 by HistoricoPublius HistoricoPublius

What sets you apart from other troubadours?

Your ability to read people and empathize with them

While any storyteller worth their salt can spin a tale, fewer can divine what tale their listeners most want to hear. You've always prided yourself on your abilities on that front - you're a remarkably good listener, and a good observer of the people around you. Whether it's being able to tell when someone is trying to sell you pig iron instead of steel or noticing which of the local girls blush when they're in each other's presence, you're more than usually alive to the subtle human interactions that take place around you each day. Usually this doesn't mean anything more than a bit of extra amusement for you...but occasionally, it yields important insights that have saved your bacon.

You arrived in Torwin just in time to perform a bit at their harvest festival, but that only lasted a couple of days - and though your performances were popular, you didn't make enough coin to escape this place. You've been looking for work, but most of what's available around here runs to the "hard menial labor" vein, and you're not very well cut out for that. If you could only convince someone to give you passage out of this dead-end town...you sigh. It would be nice to be in a big city again, somewhere with actual opportunities to ply your trade. But that doesn't look likely right now...

Gorto interrupts your doldrums by thunking two mugs of foamy ale down on the bar in front of you. "Here yeh go, Gavilard," he says. "Enjoy 'em!" You nod and pass a couple of small coins across the bar to him in thanks.
