Do you agree?
You try to bargain with him.
You stare at his hand and swallow. "What happens if I don't shake your hand?"
"You die." he replies flatly, still waiting for you to take his hand. "Then Virginia dies, then Melissa dies, then Katie, Terri, Helen, Gus, everyone in this town, everyone in this country, and eventually this whole world will burn. I will have what I want, mortal. And I will not let anyone stand in my way."
"If I shake your hand, can you promise me that no one dies?" You say with a crack in your voice. "I don't need anyone's death on my conscience. And I think you might have done something to Melissa, so you leave Katie alone."
Djal eyes you suspiciously, and you feel a tickle in the back of your mind. You sense a second tickle in another mind, somewhere close by. A smile creeps on his face and you grow nervous. "So be it," he says, crossing his heart. Flames trace his fingers when he does. Djal extends his hand out to you again. "Take my hand mortal, and help me build my army. You have my word that I shall not influence this Katie of yours. Whatever she does, will be of her own volition. And you will not be responsible for any...misfortunes that befall other mortals. Now, do we have a deal?"
