You take a fall

The words burn your ears. You go to head around the bed to get to the master bedroom's door, but, in your panic, forget that you are hobbled by the pushed down jeans.

You see Richard jump off the bed to block the doorway as his girlfriend crawls towards you down the mattress. Then, as if in slow motion, you see yourself falling forwards, your bare feet caught in the tangle of bunched blue denim. You put up your hands to break your fall, but too late, you are heading to the carpet again. But not before you bump your head on the corner of a mahogany dresser.
