You head to the mage's bedchamber.

You rap on Lady Alanna's door, and a second later, she answers. The mage has already undressed for the night, stripping down to a luxurious silk negligee.

"Your Majesty!" Alanna beams. "Would you like to come inside?"

"V-very much so." you respond, giving her a crooked smile.

"I was just getting prepared for bed, I hope you don't mind." Lady Alanna says. You drink in the sway of her hips as she moves.

"I definitely don't mind." you say.

Lady Alanna's room is full of fine furnishings, art and magical artefacts. Her perfume hangs heavy in the air.

"Mother gave me a note. You wanted to see me?" You say, as the two of you sit on the side of Alanna's bed.

"Of course. Care for a glass of wine, first?" Lady Alanna asks. "I find there's nothing better for clearing the mind and promoting peaceful sleep at the end of a long day."

Being only fractionally less likely to turn down a drink than you are a fuck, you accept a generous measure of red wine in a fine crystal glass. It's good stuff, from Alanna's family vineyard, a place you had fond memories of holidaying at a few summers ago. What your mother could get up to in the countryside with the run of a mansion...

"How are you sleeping lately anyway, Your Majesty?" Alanna asks, voice full of genuine concern. "I can't remember how many times you'd come bounding into your mother's room, crying about those dreams of devils in the woods, wanting to sleep in our bed..." She takes a sip of her wine.

"Better. It sometimes feels like I'm too busy for nightmares these days." You say slowly. You neglect to mention that... certain events have made you a lot less afraid of "devils" than you used to be."

"Of course, a ruler's life is hectic. I remember your mother being so busy we barely had time for a relationship. A roll in the hay here, a dinner there..." Alanna says.

That seems to jog your court mage's memory, for she darts up off the bed and collects a small chest from the corner of her room.

"That's why I collected a few items on my travels. Things that should make your life a little easier."

Alanna produces a small lump of crystal from the chest.

"A Retention Crystal. Hold it and speak aloud, and the crystal will soak up anything you say, for later recollection. A lot easier than a parchment and quill." You sensed there was a "for a cripple" mentally trimmed from Alanna's explanation there, but you let it pass. Many weren't so tactful.

Next, Alanna took out a short, thin length of black silk.

"An enchanted sleeping mask. Tie this around your eyes and the deepest and most restful of sleep is assured.

You take these two artefacts, several uses already in mind for each. Alanna obviously has more to show you, but seems oddly hesitant.

"There's one more thing, but I'm not so sure I should-"

"Show me." You command, unable to resist another magical toy.

Lady Alanna produces a tiny glass vial, no bigger than your thumb. It's full of a viscous white liquid.

"What in the gods name is that?" You say slowly.

"It's a potency liqueur. I picked up a few dozen. Taken over time, it should give you more strength and energy, help ameliorate a small amount of the weakness in your arm and leg." Alanna explains.

"And what is this... liqueur made out of?" You wonder.

"Mostly? ...Minotaur semen." Alanna admits.

"You expect me to drink cum? I'm the ruler of this kingdom! I'm-" You start indignantly.

"The... essence of a minotaur is a highly magical substance! It's been proven to enhance strength, stamina, virility. Edward..." Lady Alanna puts a hand on your thigh. "This potion will make your life easier."
