You decide to get customer feedback

“We don’t only want to bring more people in, we want to keep the people we have happy and satisfied,” you state. “So, we should get some feedback from our current residents.”

“Very good, sir!” Maxine agrees, adjusting her glasses before tapping away at her phone again.

“So, how will we do this? Send out a survey? Form a focus group?” you ask.

“Nothing so archaic!” Maxine chuckles, then blushes red when she realizes that her response could be interpreted as rude. “My apologies, boss! I mean to say, Ashizawa Nanotech has developed more sophisticated ways of gauging customers!”

You hear a tapping on the window and you turn to find the source of the noise. You squint your eyes and spot a tiny electronic drone! “This is bugzy! One of our newest line of surveillance nanobots! It’s used for security and tracking but can also be configured for traffic algorithms, statistics monitoring and life cycle analysis!”

You raise an eyebrow, “It’s a spybot!”

“Not necessarily, boss!” Maxine counters, “All residents have signed an agreement that all their actions within the tower may be monitored for security and legal reasons by the tower itself. So, you are within your rights to watch anything going on in this building!”

“Oh,” you say, not quite sure if this is a good thing or not.

“Why don’t you give this it try?” she offers, holding out her phone for you to use. “There are bugzys situated all over the tower, monitoring everything for you!”

You take the phone and look at the interface. It looks like a side view map of the tower as it is. Office buildings are above the lobby, with construction still adding to their numbers. Below the lobby are the restaurants. You see icons of people indicating that there people present in each of the rooms.

“Just tap on the room you want to see, or the person you want to track!” Maxine explains.

You tap one of the offices. There is a pop up display that shows the office name, how many people are currently in the office and how much rent you are earning from them. There is also a satisfaction status that appears to be yellow. You turn to Maxine and ask, “How does it know their satisfaction level?”

“That’s based on facial expression recognition tech. The bot counts the frequency of positive to negative facial expressions and records them against the time of day.”

“Fascinating…” you remark as you delve deeper into the stats of the rooms. You accidentally tap on one of the people.

“Hmm, what does yellow indicate?” you ask your aide.

“Yellow is moderately satisfied while red is unsatisfied and blue is highly satisfied,” Maxine explains. “The likelihood of a highly satisfied resident to advise their friends to come to the tower is much better than one who is only moderately satisfied.”

“Of course,” you concur to the obvious. “So, how do we get her to be highly satisfied?”

“Well, for that, we’d have to identify the parts of her daily routine that are unsatisfactory and improve on them for her!” Maxine points out astutely. “For that, we can assign a shadow bugzy to monitor her day!”
