You Pick Jenna, The Blonde

You decide to pick Jenna. Out of the two girls that were uncoupled, Jenna seemed less intimidating than Paige, though she was still stunning and way out of your league. You had to make a decision and already came off weak.

Composing yourself, you gather your strength and move towards Jenna. She looks at you like she's slowly watching a bus hit her and unable to avoid it, and then you feel a buzzing from your phone in your pocket.

I should really get that. Maybe the producers wanted me to pick someone else?

You stand beside Jenna like the other men do but do not put your arms around her or hold her like the other men are doing with their coupling, all the while smiling diffidently.

“Jenna, Matt picked you. How does this make you feel?” Amanda, the host, asks.

“I’m flattered,” Jenna says, trying the best to smile and saying it with the kind of sincerity that comes off when you tell someone's baby they look cute even though everybody but the parents knows they don't. You could tell she’s trying to make the best of a bad situation.

“And Matt, why did you pick Jenna?”

“She seems like a nice girl. She’s very attractive.” You say past the point of caring. You just wanted to shrink and hide for the past few minutes and came to realize the hard part was over. Now all you have to do is just smile, wait for your check, get booted off the island and never think about this place again.

“Matt and Jenna, you are coupled up. That leaves you Paige as the only girl who is not coupled up with anyone. Ladies, we still have one last guy, and we saved the best for last.” Amanda, the host, says delightfully.

There is a lot that goes on during reality TV shows that aren’t shown in the final edit. While there is a pause and they wait for the contestant to be set up, the makeup crew comes in, and the lighting crew sets up, APs come in and talk to the host, and the couples all stand around talking to each other. You notice Jenna talking to Paige, who is standing next to her by yourself. You take the time to check your messages. Maybe the producers wanted you to see something?

Notifications have popped up for the Affection Multiplier Application. So no direct messages? You decide to open the app and go to the Island Amour menu.

In it, you see the blacked-out profiles suddenly reveal themselves. Question-marked profile icons dissolve away and are replaced with full-colored profile pictures of everyone you just met.

You wonder how this silly thing works. Is this voting or producer odds? What’s going on? You click on Jenna’s icon, the girl you decided to couple with. She has 3 notifications on her icon.

Before you could check further, Amanda breaks you out of your reverie and perplexion of being so disliked initially by Jenna and says, “Okay, ladies, Tom is here, and we promised we saved the best for last. Come on out, Tom!”

A man roughly 6 feet 3 inches with flowing brown hair and a chiseled body walked out with a cocky smile glued to his face, his skin seemingly oiled and sculpted from marble. The guy looked like a prince out of a Disney film. You gauge the reaction of the girls to the side and notice Paige and Jenna both salivating. You notice Rick and Mike gripping firmly onto the girls they are coupled with.

How am I supposed to compete with that?

“Hello, ladies,” Tom said in a debonair way with a smug smile that comes off of probably years of having women constantly fall for him.

“Hi Tom,” They all say back and smile.

“Okay, Tom, you know how this works. You will couple up with one of the girls. If any girl fancies you, even if they are in a relationship, they will step forward. You will then make a decision on who you want to couple up with. Sound good?” Amanda asks.

“Sounds great,” Tom says, full of confidence, scanning the row of girls all eager to step forward for him.

“Ladies, if you are interested in Tom, step forward, please.”

Three of them looked at each other, and three stepped forward. Only one girl, Liz, stayed in her coupling and didn’t step forward. Paige and Jenna both stepped forward as well.

“Wow, three women, Tom. Two of them in couples too. Tom, you got a tough decision ahead of you,” Amanda says gleefully as Tom nodded satisfactorily as if this was what he expected.

“Jenna you didn't step forward for any of the guys yet and now you kind of pounced when you saw Tom. Is he your type?” Amanda asks the blonde you were standing beside.

“He’s totally my type. Tall and handsome. Like really my type,” Jenna says while biting her lips and straightening with her long blonde hair across her black bikini.

“Matt, how does that make you feel?” Amanda asks, staring directly into your soul with a knowing smile. She knows exactly how it makes you feel as you can sense all the cameras focus in on your reaction.

You try not to let out a sigh and keep a constant fake smile. It was apparent how this show was going to play out and what role you were expected to play, they wanted you to be some sort of freak show. You grin and bear it. You were here for the money. You were here for the money. Just one more week and you're out of here. You won’t let them embarrass you.

“I’m happy for her. Go for it, I say. That’s what this place is all about,” You say. Buzz!

Amanda looked a bit disappointed in your reaction and turned to Tom, “Tom, big decision. You can pair up with any of these ladies. Who will you choose?”

“Oh man, this is tough,” Tom says, rubbing his hands. “I’ll choose…”
