You Grab The Gun

You manage to swiftly grab the gun and aim it at your roommate. “What is that thing anyway?” he asks. “It’s just a toy I got from a garage sale. Probably doesn’t even work anyway,” you say, putting the gun away. He shrugs and picks up the nearby remote control.

“So, where’s that maid? What’s her name...Yolanda?” he asks, flipping through channels with the remote. “Rosario?” you ask, a rage slowly building inside you. “That’s it! They all sound the same anyway. Anyway, you fuck her already? Or do you need your roommate to do it for you?” he responds, chuckling.

You are absolutely appalled by your roommate’s racist words but you can’t do anything about it. He pays the larger part of the rent and he’s one of the most popular guys in school. “Er, yeah. I fucked her,” you stammer. “You know she’s only using you so she can get her green card,” he says, your internal anger building and starting to slowly burn inside you.

“She’s from Puerto Rico, dumbass. She’s already a citizen,” you say, your voice slowly raising. “Whatever. I’m going to bed. See you tomorrow,” he says, turning off the television and walking to his room. Your rage builds up until you can’t take it anymore.

You decide that you’re going to use the gun on Steve. You don’t care if it doesn’t work, your anger overtakes your every thought and move. You stand up and walk behind him. You draw the gun and aim it at him. “What are you doing? It doesn’t even work,” he says, turning back and seeing you.
