You're Feeling Hot

Heat starts building up in you and you reflexively wipe your forehead. It's probably nothing, just you feeling a little tired from your run is all is what you tell yourself as you bring up your phone.

"Hey Allegra, sorry I'm late."

"And here I was afraid you were gonna stand me up! Door's open, come on in." You hear a buzz from the front door as it opens and you make your way up to her apartment. You breathe a sigh of relief as you enter, the cooler air in the building is refreshing against your strange fever. You do your best to clean up any sweat on your face before knocking on Allegra's door, when you do she lets you in with a warm smile.

"And you're sure you're okay with Keith being..." She's still dancing around the question and for some reason it's starting to wear on you.

"I'm fine Allegra, really." Your tone is angrier than you meant. "Okay...maybe mostly fine." She gives you an understanding look as she sits down on her couch, motioning next to her.

"It's fine, you've been through a lot. When we saw you outside Morgan... I won't lie, I thought you were dead." She's doing her best to stay composed but you can tell she's choking back tears. You sit next to her and wrap a hand around her as you do in a comforting gesture.

"But I'm not! Look, I know they said it's a miracle but I'm alive aren't I? No scars either, it's fine Allegra." She turns to look at you and you lock eyes. As you look at Allegra you feel...something. You've always thought she was good looking, in a tomboyish way, but you feel drawn to her. You haven't felt like this since you were a dumb kid blushing as she thought about her high school crush, but you aren't into girls.
