Chapter 2

Does he make it?
Yes
“Harry, what’s wrong?” Hermione dashed over to her friend as he staggered into the common room. His face was pale, and he was clutching his stomach. The room was empty aside from them; Hermione had been doing some light arithmancy studies to wind down for the evening, whilst everyone else had gone to bed already.
“Peeves dosed me with a love potion,” groaned The Boy Who Lived.
“Why…? Never mind,” Hermione pushed her questions aside. Pulling out her wand, she quickly muttered a series of incantations. “There – that should delay the effects for now. Do you know what it was?”
“Lavender gave it to me,” explained Harry weakly. “Here.” He pulled out the vial, and also the note that went with it. Hermione gave a quick glance at the vial – a maroon liquid she didn’t recognise – then speed-read the note. Reading Lavender’s note to Ron, she could begin to understand how Harry came to have it in his pocket.
“It’s Essence of Eros,” announced Hermione.
“Can you treat it?” asked Harry urgently.
“I’ve only read about it in… literature.” She felt her cheeks flushing, and quickly moved on. “It’s a very rare potion, which at the very least drives you mad for your heart’s true desire.” Hermione felt heat rising in her, imagining Harry in the throes of lust, but she quickly suppressed it. “It’s easy to treat, if caught in time, which I think we have.”
She opened her magically-expanded pouch, and summoned her mortar and pestle, pearl of amethyst, anther root, and wolf’s bane. Mashing them up as quickly as she could, the witch paused before administering the antidote.
“What is it?” asked Harry impatiently.
“I think there was something else,” worried Hermione. “Accio Polly Puttering’s Compendium of Potent Potions and Antidotes.” A book flew from the pouch, and Hermione quickly flicked to the correct page.
“Yes,” nodded the bushy-haired brunette, reading aloud. “To fully disperse Essence of Eros, the following spell must be performed:” She skipped the spell’s description, continuing, “The victim must then must be kissed on the lips for twenty heart-beats, to complete the cleansing ritual.”
“Fine, wake up Ginny,” agreed Harry.
Hermione shook her head nervously. “Eros is fast-acting. You could have seconds. Sorry Harry, but I don’t have a choice.”
His green eyes widened as he realised what that meant, before Hermione **** the antidote down his throat, quickly recited the counter-curse, then leaned close to Harry’s face. Their lips inches apart, the young woman hesitated, feeling her friend’s hot breath on her nose. Then she dived in, pressing her mouth against his.
At first the kiss was static, each of them keeping their lips pursed, awkwardly holding position. After a few seconds, however, Hermione couldn’t resist any longer. She slowly opened her mouth, running her lips over Harry’s, and within a second she felt him kissing back. As the kiss deepened, Hermione found her fingers running through Harry’s hair and supporting his back without intending to, whilst she felt Harry holding her waist with a grip that was both gentle and firm. As they kissed with increasing passion, Hermione’s tongue ventured forward, and suddenly touched something else.
They pulled apart with a start, each looking away awkwardly.
“I… think that was long enough,” said Hermione, clearing her throat. “How do you feel?”
“Better,” nodded Harry, rubbing the back of his neck. “Thank you, Hermione. You’re brilliant, you know that?”
“As long as you’re okay, that’s all that counts,” nodded the witch, hiding her smile. “Although what concerns me is how Lavender Brown could make a potion as advanced as this.”
“Couldn’t she just have a copy of your book?” pointed out Harry.
“Polly Puttering only lists the antidote for dangerous potions like Essence of Eros, not the recipe,” explained Hermione. “The procedure for brewing something like this is extraordinarily hard to come by, Harry. It’s Dark Magic.”
The young man snorted. “Lavender Brown making blood sacrifices? I really can’t see it, 'Mione.”
The witch crossed her legs self-consciously. “Dark magic is a catch-all term for all magic not seen to be socially acceptable. The kind dependent on blood, hatred, pain and **** – that’s what Voldermort and his followers used. But there are other kinds of dark magic. Essence of Eros is brewed using… sexual dark magic.”
“Oh.” Harry’s green eyes widened with realisation. “That… I can see Lavender doing that.”
“And as much as I dislike her, we have to help her,” said Hermione reluctantly.
“Help her?”
“All dark magic corrupts,” she reminded him. “Sexual magic is no different. If she performs too much, she’ll lose herself to it. Worse, she could expose others in Hogwarts to it, and we could have an outbreak on our hands. Whatever source she learnt it from, we have to destroy it, before it's too late. Fortunately, I think I know where to start.”
Where?

Harry Potter and the Essence of Eros
Harry and Hermione discover the dangers - and temptations - of sexual magic.
After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter and his peers are required to retake the seventh year of their schooling to be awarded their NEWTs. However, when a rare potion emerges in the school, normality is once again disrupted. This time, the use of sexual magic threatens to overturn relationships, and perhaps change the very way of life of the wizarding world.
