Chapter 24 by ynyn
Do they go to the county jail?
Yes, to county lockup it is!
Now, the set-up at county jail is as follows: the first floor is the booking area, the holding cell, the interrogation rooms, and the entrance to court. The second floor is for misdemeanor male inmates for non-violent acts such as unpaid traffic offenses. The third floor was the women's wing, and was subdivided inside into felons and misdemeanors. The fourth floor was for the violent felons.
Melissa arrived at county jail in 20 minutes and was escorted by the guard to the booking are where he gave her information to the booking officer and then departed.
The officer seemed confused as he entered her info into the computer.
"I'm going to have to call and confirm this, miss, have a seat." He picks up the phone and Melissa sits and hears his pieces of the conversation.
"Yes, this is officer Wilson from county jail, I have this WR inmate Melissa here and it says-"
"Um, okay, so this has been cleared"
"I see, so you will take her back at 7pm tonight?"
"Thank you, that's all I needed."
He hung up and spoke to Melissa "Okay, you need to walk with me, I will escort you upstairs. Since you are leaving this evening, you will not need to be assigned a bunk or a mattress to sleep on."
The girl walks with the guard and they enter the elevator. He enters his code and the doors close in front of them. She has butterflies in her stomach, as she is soon to be in jail, even if it's only for a few hours. The guard doesn't speak to her as she watches the floor numbers light up as they rise .2... 3... 4...
The doors open and immediately Melissa knows something is terribly wrong. In front of them is obviously NOT the women's wing. There are dozens of men staring at them as they walk into the center of a hexagon shaped room. Each of the six sides is a cell, or pod filled with 10-15 men each.
What is going on?
