Chapter 9 by vic_elor vic_elor

Dark energy leaped from my hands, carrying with it what little hope still remained within me to this point.

I saw the impact over and over again in my mind at least a dozen times in the first few seconds after the actual impact. The glass vibrated, sounding almost like a low note on a guitar. Then, the energy quickly dissipated and my mind would reset itself and began the moment over again.

I had now irrevocably chosen my fate; I had chosen perpetual sadness.

“That was quite a little light show you put on for me. Of course, you weren’t trying to entertain me, were you? You actually thought you might have been able to escape! Or did you simply have to exhaust all hope? I hope the feeling of certainty was worth the price.”

What's the price?
