Yes, but just barely

Lunging towards the half sunken ruin, you hurtle through the air, your fingers within inches of grasping the stone walls and pulling yourself to safety. Already you feel your spirits lifting, it's a miracle!

Suddenly, the dune beneath you explodes with a trilling bellow, the worm isn't going to let it's snack go without a fight. You collide against the stone wall roughly, the hard surface unforgiving against your plush figure. but it pays off, your digits hook the ledge, clamping on tightly. With the sort of strength one only gains in a crisis, you pull yourself up onto the roof of the ruined building, just as the worm lunges up at you.

It's a close call, but the immense invertebrate misses, it's maw closing down on only the empty desert air. With a furious warbling screech, the slithering beast retreats back beneath the sands. At least now you have a chance to catch your breath, surveying the few bumps and bruises you've gained as you listen for the creepy-crawler to depart. After only a few minutes, the rumbling sounds begin to fade off into the distance, it must have finally realized you were too high up.

But that begs the question, how far down does this structure go? A quick search reveals a wooden hatch built into the roof, which when opened, reveals a ladder that trails down below. From your position, it's hard to see just how deep it is, since the only light is streaming in through the cracks in the walls.

You don't see many options here, while you could try taking your chances on foot once more, that didn't work out so well last time. Perhaps this ruin will provided some sort of shortcut, or maybe even hold supplies that you can use.

Supplies! Suddenly, you recall that you still have your pocket knife and flashlight. It's miraculous that they've survived this long, especially considering how tattered your clothes now are. With that in mind, you slowly begin the descent down the ladder, into the mysterious wreckage of the wastes. Once at the ladder's end, you can feel firm sand beneath your feet, but you can't tell if this is the ground floor, or if there's more to this old dump.

With a faint click, you brandish the light, offering a decent illumination of your surroundings.
