The Worm Wins

There's not much hope of fleeing in this sandstorm, you can barely see at all through the clouds of dust surrounding you. The ground rumbles beneath you, as if the battling behemoths might split the very earth asunder. At long last, the sounds of combat seem to lessen, allowing the air to gradually clear, revealing the victor of this monumental contest.

The first thing you see is a massive stone fist, raised as if in triumph. Your heart sinks at the thought of that craggy brute having it's way with you. But as you watch, the Golem's arm sinks downward, into the belly of the beast. With a sickening slurp, the last piece of the stone-man vanishes entirely.

As relieved as you are, there can be no time to rest, a worm that size is bound to have quite the appetite. Rising to you feet, you sprint off, hoping to put as much distance between yourself and the burrowing beast as possible. If only you could make it to solid ground, then it couldn't feel your vibrations through the sand.

Vibrations, like the ones you're making with that **** run for freedom.

It doesn't take long for the sand worm to notice you scurrying away, and within seconds, a sound like rumbling thunder is hot on your heels. Finally, something breaks up the monotony of the landscape. It appears to be the roof of some ruined building, buried within the sand. While the rest of the structure may be submerged, if you can reach the roof, you should be out of the worm's reach.

Unfortunately, that means you'll have to jump. It's not going to be easy, but your life may just depend on it. With every step, the sandy ruin grows closer, and you prepare to take a running leap for your salvation. Kicking off, you find yourself flying forward, the ground sinking away from you feet as you reach desperately for the ledge of your intended sanctuary.
