Chapter 6
by warriorbard24
A problem indeed!?
Xena & Gabrielle Escape from the Demon
Xena took her chakram and threw it at the demon’s head as she yelled at Gabrielle to get behind her. She watched as the chakram bounced off the roof of the cavern and hit the demon on the back of his head with little effect other than slighty straggering him before it returned to her hand.
“Well we definately have a problem now!” she acknowledged.
Gabrielle ducked an wild swing by the demon as she jumped over an table full of dusty wine bottles scattering them on to the floor. The little Bard managed to run to the Warrior princess' side, gasping for breath as the Demon continued its advance towards them.
"Gabrielle, look for some way for us to escape as I can't hold off the demon for much longer!" yelled Xena as she slashed at one of the demons arms when it got too close to them.
Gabrielle quickly glanced around and by fortunes grace spotted a tunnel hidden by the curve of the wall and a pile of fallen masonry. Tugging at Xenas arm she pointed it out. Xena , fending off yet another clumsy swing, glanced over. Despite its unstable look she decided there was no other way knowing that she couldnt beat this demon.
Xena ordered Gabrielle to run for the tunnel as she moved back covering their retreat from the demon. It advanced after her bellowing about them trangressing on the temple of Dionysus, but seemed **** to taste the bite of the singing metal disc again. Gabrielle managed to reach the opening of the tunnel and picked up a old torch. Quickly lighting it it with her flint she started into the tunnel. She was soon followed by Xena. Aiming the Chakram again she sent it buzzing through the air to glance off the entrance to the tunnel. As it returned to her hand there was a creaking, grating noise, then masonry tumbled heavily into the opening. As the dust settled Xena rejoined her comapnion further down the tunnel.
The old torch smoked and sputtered badly, reducing Gabrielles vision down to only a few yards but soon she saw they were approaching an dead end in the tunnel. As they drew closer the two young women noticed a very old wooden door which was sealed with rusty metal bars.
"Seems like this is the only way out!" said Xena. Gabrielle tried the heavy iron handle, but it too suffered the effects of extremem age and stubbornly refused to move.
"Okay Gabrielle, stand back and let me see what I can do." Instructed Xena. Once her friend was out of harms way she gave the door a hefty kick in the center. The door creaked and groaned on its hinges, but remained shut. Xena focused and struck with her boot once more. Accompanied by the sound of splintering wood the frame around the lock gave way and the door swung open. Almost at once a dim light illuminated the tunnel from the room beyond.
Unknown to Xena & Gabrielle a Godly presence was observing what they were doing. As they cautiously moved into this new and unfamiliar room it chuckled with malign glee and mirth as it waited for what was about to happen to them.
So What is beyond in the room and faces Xena & Gab
