“Still alive...yet again.”
Wrap up of an adventure
There wasn’t much else to do here after everything was said and done. Marius couldn’t find the body of the girl amongst the rubble. But that was fine, there was no point of a burial anyways. The only thing that was important was right in his hands when he found the ashen remains of the Vampire.
Marius never felt too different before. This made him question if Sylvese has given him a blessing or not, outside of healing his wounds and allowing him to move again. Though he was curious as to why his new scars were still around. Maybe she liked men with scars? If she was suppose to be his perfect lover...then that was probably the case. He wasn’t even sure what blessing she could have given him that he could make use of anyways.
However, with this amulet in his hand...he felt truly amazing. Just by holding it he felt like he could take on anything. Any sense of grogginess from his few days nap was erased and his body felt fitter than ever. He just knew with this he would never feel exhaustion, he would never tire, and he could surmount any challenge without being weighed down. Any injury he would receive would be erased and he would be invincible.
It made him sick to his stomach and want to release the hated bile forming within him
“I’m never going to enjoy the feeling of being well-rested again...”
He put the pendant in a thick sack so he could never feel its effects while he moved. With that the rest of his time here was uneventful.
He had met with the village elder about the killing of the Vampire and avenging the **** of the carpenter. He didn’t tell the elder about the girl or what exactly went down, only that he managed to prevent a terrible ritual that would have put the village in danger. And that it feasted on the victim to empower herself for the ritual.
Luckily the hunter was in the village so it was also easy to convince the elder about the slaying of the invasive griffin. Though, they didn’t call it a griffin, but instead referred to it as some other monster.
The elder offered money to pay to Marius for his services. He only accepted half of it...enough to recoup his spendings on this trip, spending for his way back home, and then some.
He then went to the merchant he had talked with, the brother of the carpenter. He told him that the murderer was killed and gave the left over money to him to help pay for a funeral.
With that he was on his way home. He made sure he separated some of the silver coins away from the spending money. His brethren would appreciate it to make some tools and weapons.
On his well stocked horse, Tempest, Marius rode home...eager to rest and anxious to see what his Mistress had in store for him in regards to this mysterious woman the gods deemed fit for protection.
One adventure down.
