I wake up with a start, it is still dark. Meg is still laying in bed next to me. At first I'm not sure why I am awake, was it a dream?
"No..., So tired.." That sounds like Penny's voice, she sounds a wee bit sloshed. She must have had a fun night, sounds like she's finally make it up to bed.
"Come on Penny..." I can just barely make out Josh's voice which is barely above a whisper. Expecting Josh to open the door and help Penny to her bed on the other side of the room I settle back onto my pillow.
The next thing I hear however is the clearly distinguishable staggering foot steps of Penny and another set of footsteps that must belong to Josh disappearing down the hall into the quiet of the night. I do however hear a couple of faints sounds of protest that Penny makes as she is lead away "... We shouldn't ... so tired... So nice..."
I don't have anything definite to put my finger on but for some reason my fatherly instincts are telling me something isn't right.
