"So, sweats or other layers would help to keep body heat in, right?"
"Yeah, that's the whole point," I answered.
"Well, they would also block body heat coming from each other. And then we'd all be losing heat to the cold air."
My knowledge of thermodynamics was coming back to me, but I was too tired to dwell too deeply on it. "I suppose so, but I don't see any other option?" I asked it as a question even though it really wasn't one.
"Well..." Juliet trailed off. I was confused. I looked to Monica, but she sho
ok her head. Juliet continued, "Okay, I'm just going to say it. The best way to get through the night would be if we were all naked."
Silence hung in the air. Nobody breathed. It was just the frigid blast of winter pouring through the crack in the door.
"Excuse me?" this time Monica was the first to speak. "Are you serious?" Monica scoffed, half-expecting a joke.
"I am," Juliet assured. "It's the best way to absorb each other's body heat and stay warm through the night."
"Well still!" Monica continued to protest.
"Look, Monica" Juliet raised her voice a little. "All I want to do is get through tonight as warm as possible. As this is the best way."
"Well why don't we do shorts and t shirts and something then? Or just bras and underwear? Why does it have to be naked?"
"What's the big deal? We're all girls here, and it'll be dark anyway. Look, it's just a high school locker room all over again. No big deal."
Then suddenly, the two of them turned to me, as if remembering I was there. Monica looked at me pleadingly, while Juliet looked at me sharply. "Well..." I trailed off.
