“C-can we watch television together?” Cassie asked.

“Sure, but you should know that the parental controls are on,” Melissa said. “I hope you like watching cartoons and kid shows.”

Cassie beamed. “Oh gosh, yes please,” she said. “I don’t really like the stuffy adult shows anyways

Melissa smiled as she picked up Cassie in her arms and carried her down the stairs. Cassie felt small in the moment as Melissa cradled her against her chest. “Now where do you want to sit?” Melissa asked. “On my lap? On the floor?”

“On your lap please,” Cassie said.

Melissa smiled as she sat down on the couch and then pulled Cassie onto her lap as she turned on the television. Cassie smiled as she saw the original Blue’s Clues start to play and she happily clapped and sang along to the nostalgic songs. Melissa smiled as she wrapped her arms around Cassie’s waist and held her against her body. Cassie smiled as Melissa tickled her sides. “I’m so happy you’re in my life now,” Melissa whispered. “I’ve always wanted a little, and now here you are.”

Cassie giggled as Melissa continued tickling her. Cassie blushed as Melissa pulled her in and gave her belly a raspberry causing her to laugh loudly. “I’m glad you’re in my life too, mommy,” Cassie said as she clung to her neck, burying her face against her shoulder as Steve sang the outro to the episode.

Cassie found herself putting her thumb in her mouth as Melissa rocked her against her body, starting to hum and sing lullabies. Cassie found herself growing weak, struggling to say awake as Melissa sang Hush Little Baby. It wasn’t long before Cassie was fast asleep just like a baby, thumb in her mouth as Melissa smiled at her. Melissa debated whether she should bring Cassie to the crib or back to her bed like she wanted…
