Erica was becoming more annoyed with Cam. Looking at the screen, she saw that the score was 7-3 in the first quarter. "You want to put your money where your mouth is?" she asked.

Cam finally took his eyes off of the screen and gave Erica his attention. "What are the stakes?"

"Duke wins, I give you $10. North Carolina wins, you give me $10."

"I could never take your money," Cam declared. "It wouldn't be fair to you. I know you don't follow football."

"Sound's like you're chicken!" If Cam hadn't been ruining her opportunity to spend time interacting with Tom, then perhaps she wouldn't have been egging him on. At least Tom appeared to find the whole thing amusing, if his snickering was any indication.
