Walk directly there

Alex considers looking for a less obvious route to the dungeon, but considering the time restrictions, he decides to walk straight there.

Returning to the mansion, Alex passes a number of party guests, mingling with Alex’s co-workers. At one point he was afraid he would be delayed when he heard one of the male guests motion toward him and say, “Why don’t we have him join us?” The young woman in his arms, whether out of genuine interest in her companion or a more selfish desire to keep any potential tips for herself, said, “How about if we see if I am woman enough to keep you fully occupied for now?” That seemed to satisfy her companion, who picked up his pace toward wherever he was leading his willing companion.

Unsurprisingly, the closer Alex got to the dungeon, the fewer “willing companions” he saw. Given the wide range of perversions he had seen already since arriving at Scanlan’s estate, he fully expected to find at least a few purveyors of sadomasochism lulling around the imposing iron doors, but the hallway leading to the dungeon appeared to be deserted.

Arriving at the doors, Alex listens carefully and hears nothing from inside. Just as he is about to open the doors, he hears the elevator at the end of the hallway begin to operate. He doesn’t know if that means he will soon have company.
