Chapter 17

For now, how will you thwart Adder Adjutant's escape?
Use the gum explosive to take out the helicopter (Gum Explosive -1)
Unfortunately for Adder Adjutant, there was a weak-point in this escape plan. In few situations could a giant, armed helicopter be called a weak-point, but here, it made the perfect target for your gum explosive. If you'd brought a rocket launcher, the copter probably would have gunned you down before ever landing. If you'd brought a grenade, there'd be no way to hit your target. Even if you'd brought something like a heavy machine gun, it wouldn't have made a dent in that outer armor and there'd be no way to aim it right at the pilot. This special armament made for the single perfect way to neutralize the threat.
Instead of chasing the Adjutant any further, you stood back and aimed towards the exposed inner roof of the heavily armored copter's passenger section. With a quick motion, you retrieved your gum explosive and pulled free the strip, then quickly tossed the adhesive bomb upwards. You wouldn't give Adder Adjutant time to board her exit; after all, it was better if you could capture her alive.
The Adjutant may not have known exactly what you were up to-- more likely she thought you'd bugged the copter-- but the intent was clear enough to cause her to reverse her decision to board it. "You're a meddlesome one. I'll have to put you and your team all the way down, won't I?" the Adjutant questioned, then released her grip on the rope to land in front of you. Once again, she raised both hands with her fists up in a mixed martial arts stance, bending her knees slightly. "You'll be dead before my minions even have a chance to assist me."
You certainly hoped not, but she'd already demonstrated her skill earlier. You wouldn't back down; instead, you lifted your own hands in a defensive stance, but held off approaching her.
"What's wrong? Afraid to make the first move? Stalling only benefits me, you know? Those two won't save you when you're outnumbered by every terrorist in the known world," the Adjutant smirked. It seemed that true to her word, she was staying on the defensive.
Everything was running just as you'd calculated! In the next moment, the Adjutant was completely caught off guard by the sudden explosion behind her, causing her to look wide-eyed over her shoulder at the smoking, plummeting wreckage that had been her ride out. The blades of the copter scratched noisily and dangerously against the Palm of Royalty, taking off part of the hand-rail and conceivably dooming it further, as the helicopter began to tailspin with flames bellowing from the inside. As you looked at the gaping scar running down through the ship and heard the crash of metal against metal below, additionally watching the fire begin to spread across the deck, you had to be thankful for two things. The first: that you still had a safe means of escape in mind. The second: that everyone aboard the ship was among the worst criminals known to mankind and your conscience could remain relatively guilt-free despite their fates.
The woman's eyebrows arched and her face transformed into an agitated scowl. "You're a dead man!" she informed you again, then ran at you with rekindled rage. Remembering how the impact of her blows had felt a moment ago, you raised your elbows and fists to defend your front. Her palm shot out to impact that shield all the same; you were positive your own fists were going to blow back and hit yourself from the force of her strike. After all: it was only natural that the leader of Adder's strength would be enhanced in the same way as her subordinates...
Thankfully, you had a bit of that strength to count upon yourself. Before her fist could reach you, Au Revoir interceded, catching the other woman's knuckles in her own giant grip. The leader of Adder howled in frustration; her cry became further agitated and pained as Au Revoir twisted the wrist. The blond, bikini-clad agent grinned, then stepped around you, now grabbing Adder Adjutant's arm with her other hand. "Nice stalling, Ciao! If you get to blow up the helicopter, at least leave the fist-fight for me, oui?" She chuckled, then powerfully tossed the leader of Adder to the flat of the deck. The woman's earlier martial prowess seemed to evaporate as she writhed from the damage to her spine and wrist. Au Revoir didn't let up, instead chasing her down and delivering a strong kick to her side that caused her to roll across the deck, screaming. "Payback is a bitch, Adjutant! This is my chance to prove that the training I did even after your genetic enhancements wasn't for nothing!"
"Y-Yoooou..." the Adjutant spat, wiping a messy, red-black string of blood from her lips. Furious, she pushed herself back up to her feet, then came at Au Revoir. It was pointless... worse than pointless! Au Revoir easily deflected the manifold martial arts strikes by raising her elbows and shins to absorb the each impact, like a trainer letting attacks hit their pads. When the barrage began to slow slightly, she jammed in her fist, connecting hard with the Adjutant's belly and causing the woman to double over in agony.
You took the time to remind Au Revoir that it would be better to retrieve Adder Adjutant alive.
With the Adder leader now limply rolling onto one side and clutching her stomach, Au Revoir leaned in and grabbed hold of the back of her neck. The Frenchwoman gave you a big smile and nodded. "Oui! It's time this one spilled her guts," your compatriot agreed. Before the terrorists could get their bearings, you ran to the other side of the ship with your team. Freed up from her target, Vaarvel joined you along with Nora. Au Revoir slung the injured Adjutant over her shoulder and kept pace alongside you, not seeming burdened in the slightest. "That was satisfying, Ciao! But we will have to put you back into combat training. You can't be beaten up by women-- other than myself, of course. They don't make classes that help with that!"
From what you'd just seen, you were inclined to agree...
You and your allies boarded the Gambit with your hostage in tow, avoiding all sorts of gunfire from the slow-responding Adder agents remaining on the ship. With all due speed, the Gambit began its travel away from the Palm of Royalty.
