“Of course you know what I was doing,” said Claire catching her balance. “I was bathing. It’s pretty obvious.”

“Uh-huh?” Said Luke now raising an eyebrow at his mom. “I would have sworn you said Dylan a few times. Were you talking to Dylan in there or just practicing saying his name?”

His mother’s face immediately goes red. He had her. It was a long shot, but it paid off.

“Knew it,” said Luke after getting no reply. His mother wouldn’t even look him in the eye. “So like I said. Fifty bucks for the towel and another hundred bucks not to tell dad or anyone else what you were doing in there.”

Luke could see the muscles under his mom’s porcelain skin of her cheek clench as she glared daggers into him. Luke smiled in return. Claire’s sneer turned into a sarcastic grin mocking Luke. Luke could see the wheels turning in his mother’s head. She was thinking of something, but he just didn’t know what.
