Chapter 2
Which House does Jon choose?
Tyrell
“House Tyrell seems like a safe bet,” Jon said after a long moment of consideration. “Mace Tyrell was loyal to you during the Rebellion, his army is impressive, the grain supplies he possesses are considerable...and he is no great thinker by the sounds of it.”
Rhaegar snorted. “That is certainly true enough,” he took a moment to run things over in his mind before nodding. “Yes, I think this was the wise choice. And in fact, we were recently given invitations to attend a celebration being hosted at Highgarden...I’m in no state to attend, and Aegon will be busy in the Riverlands for the moment...perhaps you should go, get to know your future betrothed and make yourself established about the Reach Lords. It would do you good.”
The Prince bowed his head. “When is it?”
“You’d have to leave on the morrow, but you should arrive in no time.”
“Then it will be done, father.” Jon replied, solemnly. “ I won’t let us down.”
Rhaegar smiled and embraced his son. “You never have, now go. Ready yourself, you have an eventful few days ahead.”
