You feel like things are getting away from you. You've been running around like a chicken with your head cut off and you really need to buckle down and figure out how you're going to deal with the situation.

Did you walk into some sort of trouble when you decided to stream your 'hack the sim' idea? Are there really some sort of reality police, like in The Matrix, who are looking for those who take the blue pill and discover what's behind the curtain? If so, wouldn't it be easier to just clean up the code?

No, you're pretty sure that whatever is going on is within the sim rather than some manifestation of the sim computer's programmer. Which might mean you have a chance.

The more you think about it, the more you think that anyone who has already hacked the sim will be jealous of their positions of power. After all, who is to say that a new hacker couldn't be better, couldn't even change the interface leaving the original hackers out of luck... especially if their hack was the kind of woo-woo approach that the mystical literature you've seen takes rather than being rigorously computer-science based.

It's an insight that simultaneously gives you hope... and fills you with fear. Hope because if you figure out the hack in time, you'll be able to protect yourself and fear because if you're right, those 'others' will be ****, powerful, and unconstrained by any moral limitations.
