Try to return to normal

The next few months were very odd to say the least. Her new teammates would look at her differently, people she flew by would make lewd comments, sure...but oddly enough for her it did not change too much about her day to day life. It probably helped, she reckoned anyway, that it was not Kara Danvers that unwillingly and then somehow willingly was exposed to the world. With the money she made from the shoot Kara bought an apartment in New York where she could still work along the Titans but not live with them. She found it to be far too awkward.

To keep up the appearance of a normal life, Kara started working as a freelance reporter. At first her stories were mainly just puff pieces, but after a few big stories she has made her name known as an investigative journalist. It’s a nice escape from being the Girl of Tomorrow, and as Kara Danvers she can hide behind a pair of glasses and disappear from the world...

Dressed in the baggy sweater of Kara Danvers, Kara stood outside the old warehouse and scanned it briefly with her x-ray vision. “Lead...damn,” she says aloud, though quietly as she realizes that the interior of the warehouse was painted with lead paint, which used to be the standard when the place was built.

She came to this particular warehouse after following a lead connecting some backdoor dealings with a congressman. Since she is going to publish the article exposing whatever is going on here, she made the decision to come in civilian clothes rather than as Supergirl. If she was seen here it could create a link between her and her alter ego that she wants desperately to avoid. She didn’t even bother to put the costume on underneath her clothes. If the worst happens she can always just fly home in an instant. Not being able to look into the building with her x-ray vision, but still wanting to know what is really happening here, Kara decides to enter the building and rely on her senses to keep out of trouble.

She opens the door into an empty hallway and finds a seemingly empty building. Above her all that is currently lighting the are strange red luminescent bulbs that she mistakenly brushes off. Kara tries listening for any heartbeats and finds nothing but silence.
